BLOG TOUR + GIVEAWAY ~Night Owl by M Pierce~

Title: Night Owl
Author: M. Pierce
Series: Night Owl #1
Release Date: February 11, 2014
Paperback Release Date: July 1, 2014

My Rating: 4 confusing and terrific stars

"Tautly written, complex, and vibrating with a dark sensuality that will have you at once blushing and anxious. You'll think you have this book pegged . . . but you'll be wrong."—Christina Lauren, New York Times, USA Today, and international bestselling authors of The Beautiful Bastard series

From bestselling ebook author M. Pierce comes the first novel in a provocative erotic trilogy where an anonymous online writing partnership turns into an uncontrollable, passionate obsession.

At twenty-eight, Matt Sky has the perfect life. He has a beautiful girlfriend, a massive inheritance, and four national bestsellers -- all penned under his airtight alias, M. Pierce.

At twenty-seven, Hannah Catalano is a train wreck. Her boyfriend is a deadbeat and her job is abysmal.

Matt and Hannah meet online as writing partners. Their relationship is safe, anonymous, and innocent...

Until Matt sees a picture of Hannah. Hannah's picture sparks an attraction Matt is powerless to ignore. When circumstance brings Matt and Hannah together, the strangers begin a love story that's passionate, poignant, unforgettable, and unstoppable.
Pleasure gripped Hannah the way it gripped me—first in a powerful paroxysm, then rolling waves of bliss.

I watched her face as she came. No wonder they called it the little death. Her pain sounded so much like her pleasure, or her pleasure like her pain, and the ecstasy on her face could have been agony.

She moaned and wet my hand with her desire, and I held the toys against her until her struggling ceased.

We slept in a sweaty tangle. The ties and toys lay strewn around the edges of my bed. For the first time, I held Hannah's naked body as she held mine. Our hearts slowed together. Our breaths grew even and deep.

When I woke, Hannah was exploring my body with her small hands. I realized I had been feeling her touch as I dozed, like the touch of some curious animal, on my face, my hair and neck, my shoulders, my back. I sighed and she paused.

"Keep going," I whispered.

Her feathery touches grew urgent. She pawed at my ass; she squeezed the lean contours of my torso and smoothed her hands over the hard planes.

When she scooted down to hold my thighs, she began to lap at my cock.

We made love as the evening sun burned away.

We touched all of one another, tasted everything. We were slow, gentle, and quiet. We took what we wanted. We gave it up. Hannah rode my face, I wriggled my tongue into her ass, she pinched and licked my nipples. My eyes watered with the force of my climax. We drowsed and woke again. I mounted her. She mounted me. Our skin glistened.

Again and again we went there together—tumbling over the raw edge, touching the live wire, collapsing, exploding, dissolving like dead stars.

Where in the hell do I start with this book?! There were things I loved about it. Actually the majority of the book I loved. It captivated me, enthralled me. Made me resent my day job because I would have to take a break from reading. It was THAT book. So that's all fine and dandy. However, there was this other part of the book... I don't know how to explain it. It made me SO mad, or irritated. I can't decide which yet. What was is that put me off kilter, you ask? I have no fu--ing clue. I really don't. It's quite possible that it was just a mixture of things. However, it didn't piss me off enough that I stopped reading (which I've done with other books) or that I'm not clamoring and demanding for the next book. I'm clearly at odds with this book. That leads me to believe that it's genius and everyone should give it a read.

In a nutshell (because a- you can read the synopsis and b- I don't want to give too much away) this book is about obsession. Matt being obsessed with Hannah. Their equal obsession for a connection and life that is real. Hannah's obsession with Matt. And so it goes. Their relationship begins abnormally and it doesn't every quit being out of the ordinary. I was utterly starstruck by it though. I've read the book with the obsessed couple before. This was different. This was a relationship of perfect timing for Hannah and the worst timing for Matt. When they were together I couldn't stand for it to end. When they were apart Hannah was still my girl, she was kicking ass, taking names and fixing the messed up road her life had been heading in, albeit with a big hand-up from Matt. Matt on the other hand, without Hannah by his side, I just wanted to throttle the guy! I think he may be part of where my irritation stems from. He is just SO much. He's up, down, everywhere, nowhere. He made me dizzy. There were times I said "Yes! You're amazing!" and other times where I had moments like this- "You're ruining EVERYTHING!" Suffice it to say I was an emotional wreck while reading this book.

So where do I stand with it?  Read it. It was a very unique reading experience for me. The hard ending was awesome. The epilogue/news article afterward befuddled me to NO extent. Quick note about one of my cons for this book- the whole author in the story action. I didn't care for it. It seems like a good idea, but it was incredibly distracting. I enjoy authors pulling from their real lives, but I don't want to know it's happening. It made me feel like I was in a fun house with the infinity mirror. He's writing about himself writing about himself. Is it real? A marketing ploy? I did wonder for a minute, but I had to put a stop to it and separate it in my mind (pretend the author's name was different) because I would go off on tangents and get sidetracked from the story. Other than that though it was an onslaught of emotions, sex, dirty talk and true wonderment. Taking a look at the big picture, I did thoroughly enjoy the story. It surpassed a lot of thresholds for me. I felt like it gobbled me up and spit me out before I was ready. I will be waiting with bated breath for the next installment. Let us not forget the highlight of this story- the writing. It clearly enabled me to get past my befuddlement. It was stellar work. Truly awesome writing. Endgame? Read it. Totally worth it.

Happy Reading!

BLOG TOUR + REVIEW + GIVEAWAY ~Until You're Mine by K. Langston~

Title: Until You're Mine
Author: K. Langston
Series: Mine #2
Release Date: April 7, 2014

My Rating: 4.5 Stars!
Taking big risks had always been Archer Brook’s way of life. It’s what has to be done in order to get what you want, and he knew that better than anyone. Archer may have been born into a life of wealth and privilege, but he’d proven time and time again that his success was a result of his own true grit and determination. The savvy businessman was an experienced player in the game of life, always knowing when to ante up or when to cash out.

It was time to do both.

Burned out on the bright lights of Vegas, once the successful night club owner found the best of both worlds tucked away in a quiet Mississippi town, he never looked back.

That was until she walked into his bar.

Life has never been easy for Katy Vaughn. The preacher’s daughter turned small town rebel has seen her fair share of heartbreak, and she’s tired. Katy is done with men who have no idea what they want or how to treat a woman. She wants a real man. One who can give her everything she’s ever dreamed of. One who will give her everything she needs. Lovers of the past may have broken her heart, but they could never break her spirit.

There was only one man capable of that.

You never know when love will come along and change…everything.
My mouth feasted from the soft skin of her neck.

“Archer,” she breathed.

“Fuck,” I grinded my hard cock into her stomach.

With one arm wrapped around her waist, I hugged her close while my other hand held her neck in place. I could fuck her right here and now if I wanted to, but her consent would make it so much sweeter. “You know what I want. Just fuckin’ say yes so we can move past all this petty shit,”

“No.”

“I hate that word. Have I ever told you that? It should not be part of your vocabulary.” I dragged my finger across her swollen lips before I demanded them once more. Her cherry flavored mouth made it damn near impossible to pull away. I looked into her eyes.

“Tell me what you want. What will it take?”

“I want you to be mine.” Her eyes were so wide and sure. She knew exactly what she wanted, giving me one more thing to adore about this woman.

“Not possible.” I said shaking my head.

“Why do you deny this?” Katherine pulled my hand from her face, guiding it to rest just above her breast.

Her heart pounded wildly beneath my palm as she breathed in and out with shallow breaths. “Feel that? This is what you do to me.”

Jerking my hand from her chest, I immediately released her and took a step back. I was pretty sure if she put her hand on my chest right now, she could feel my entire body vibrating with need, just like hers. I knew exactly what she was feeling because I felt the very same way. I wanted her just as badly, but I was scared to fucking death. Deep inside the darkest corner of my heart lived a beast, a wild animal that had been caged for so very long, afraid to be set free, afraid to love.

This impossible woman continuously taunted him, and that irritated the piss out of me. “Why the fuck are you playin’ so hard to get? You know you want this too.”

She lifted her chin, holding my gaze. “I don’t do one night stands and I don’t have meaningless sex. I’m not that girl. ”

I took a step forward. “I can give you anything you want…except my heart.”

“What are you so afraid of?” Katherine took in a step.

“Why do you have to be so goddamn perfect?” I asked, looking down into her consoling eyes. “Why can’t you just be the bad girl I want you to be?”

“I can be that girl. I can be whatever the hell you want as long as you accept all of me. The good and the bad.” Taking another step forward, our bodies collided. She placed her tiny hand over my thundering heart. Once again, the pull was powerful, unyielding.

Fucking terrifying.

“Let me in. That’s all I’m asking. I want all of you, Archer, not bits and pieces.”

Snaking my arm around her waist, I tucked one lone piece of hair behind her ear. “Why can’t you just let go of your self-righteous morals for once. Give in to what you feel instead of what you believe.”

This tug of war had been going on between us for months. Neither of us wanted to give in or concede, and each battle was fought with more intensity than the last. It was a wonder we both hadn’t forfeited. I’d come pretty damn close. The feelings that came along with pursuing her were so damn strong, yet I had to have her.

“Then what would that make me?”

“Mine.”

Shaking her head, she laughed. “I need to get back to work.” Standing on her tip toes, she cupped both of my cheeks. “To be continued.” She kissed me once on the lips, then again on the cheek before she turned and walked out, leaving me with a raging hard on and a feeling in my chest I never ever wanted to acknowledge.

This book was a blind test for me. I jumped in head first without knowing a thing. Wouldn't you know that I freaking LOVED this book! Holy heck! This book is the angst, the sex, the smoking hot chemistry. All of it! Katy and Archer have such a dynamic relationship. It's actually quite peculiar. She takes absolutely no shit from him, and vice versa. And Archer? Hello, alpha guys? Archer's here now, you're no longer needed. This book plays up both their friendship and their sexual relationship. Both of which are very endearing and were a joy to read. Katy is quite the firecracker. Yet, she also has this more vulnerable side to her that only Archer can bring out. To an extent I think Archer is the same way. It's funny because sometimes I think they're polar opposites and other times I think they're made from the same mold. They've both been hurt before, although this book is more focused on Archer's healing than Katy's. But Katy does some healing of her own as well. In the end, I was left content in their ending but, also secretly wishing they would get a sequel in the future :)

Until You're Mine starts out a little odd. Archer and Katy already know each other, and their attraction has already been solidified. Through a series of flashbacks the reader will learn more about their first kiss, and a few other key elements of their past, but not necessarily their joint past. Archer is one of my favorite kind of heroes. An alpha who thinks he can no longer love, yet will end up falling and loving the hardest. Katy on the other hand uses the element of full-disclosure to her benefit. It leaves Archer shocked more than once, giving Katy enough time to manipulate a situation to get what she wants.... Archer. Unbeknownst to Katy, Archer has been horribly betrayed by someone he once loved. When his secret comes to light there is a lot of push and pull in their relationship. The both fight tooth and nail to get what they want. Katy thinks she can help Archer overcome his heartache and sense of betrayal, while also knowing full well that Archer may shatter her heart. Archer on the other hand is fighting to be alone and unloved yet, his need and want for Katy is wreaking havoc with his plan. Together or apart these two have a very long road ahead of them. When they come face to face with the past that is in between them they may not survive it together.

The journey Katy and Archer take is erotic, confusing, hurtful, loving, and magnificent. I loved every minute of it. The story line presented could not have been handled better. My only two minor complaints were 1) I wished that the author hadn't voiced the characters with so much slang, it detracted somewhat from the story and flow at times and 2) there were a couple of scenes that were glossed over or later alluded to that I would have loved to see expanded. Again, minor but, personally having those little tweaks would have made this book an all out 5 star book. All in all this book is fantastic. Big thumbs up and an A+! K. Langston certainly earned herself a spot on my auto-buy list. I can't wait to see more from her in the future!!

Happy Reading!

BLOG TOUR + GIVEAWAY ~Rare and Precious Things by Raine Miller~

Title: Rare and Precious Things
Author: Raine Miller
Series: The Blackstone Affair #4
Release Date: February 28, 2014
Hosted by: The Book Avenue

My Rating: 5+ Stars!
The fourth part in the New York Times bestselling series, The Blackstone Affair: A bright beginning for two damaged souls fighting for their hard-won love, and the promise of a new hope to secure their happily ever after.

Fresh from an idyllic honeymoon along the Italian coast, the Blackstones prepare for the birth of their precious baby and the challenges of settling into a new home. But things get complicated when specters from the past reappear to threaten the very foundation of their relationship. Ethan and Brynne will have to fight harder than ever for each other. Rare and Precious Things is the story of two people who both need the other in order to be complete, but learn just how "rare" their brand of love is when they have to risk everything in order to hold onto it.
“What are we doing on the beach?” I asked, as he led me along the cool sand under my bare feet.

“Having our date. Trust me, baby. This is something I have all planned out for us.”

“I bet you do. I am well aware that when you say date you really mean sex—”

My words were lost as we rounded a turn in the beach path and came out onto the shore. The waves lapped at the sand with the soothing sounds of water moving against earth. A sliver of moon glowed up over the water, but the real beauty was the many glass jars lit up with tea lights set out on the soft sand of the beach. What seemed like hundreds of them flickering away around a pallet of blankets and pillows. Off to one side, sat a bucket of iced drinks and what appeared to be little dessert cakes on a tray with some fresh fruit.

“It’s beautiful, Ethan.” I could hardly speak as I realized what he’d done. “How did you do…all of this?”

He led us onto the blankets and drew me down to sit beside him. “It was my idea,” he began, “but I needed some help to pull it off. Franco got it organized while we were at the party.”

I looked around behind us, imaging if the caretaker for our villa was lurking in the dark hoping for a glimpse.

“I know what you’re thinking, but you don’t have to worry, baby, Franco is not in the bushes watching, trust me.”

I laughed nervously. “Well, if Franco is in the bushes somewhere, I am predicting he’s gonna get one hell of a show.”

“Now that’s what I like to hear. My girl accepting the idea of a hot beach shag,” he whispered teasingly against my ear, his tongue flicking out for a lick along the shell. “You like my surprise.”

My body came instantly alive, needing him so badly. Ethan could get me hot with just the simplest look or touch. He reached up and worked on the messy knot holding up my hair and unpinned it. He was getting good at figuring out my hair. It made me smile to watch him as he found the pins and pulled them, knowing how he’d be fisting my hair in handfuls and using it to dominate when we were deep into the sex.
“You’re smiling,” he murmured as he worked over my hair.

“I just love to watch you doing simple things.”

My hair fell free. “This is not a simple thing to me,” he whispered, fingering through the tangled length with both hands. His gaze grew smoky as he focused on my lips. “It’s everything.”

*Mild spoilers for the previous books*
Given the choice, of course I wanted more Ethan Blackstone. Who could say no to that drool-inducing, hunk of book boyfriend? However, I have to say that I had my reservations about a fourth book in this series. The third book left me quite satisfied. And then I read Rare and Precious Things and could not have been proved more wrong. This book is the conclusion I didn't know I was missing until I read it. Ms. Miller gave her characters the closure they deserved and a fantastic read her readers will grapple for. When Eyes Wide Open ended, I did feel a little bereft but, the characters were happy so I couldn't really ask for more. Be it a "thank you" to  fans, or a nagging story untold, Ms. Miller delivered an exquisite conclusion to one of my favorite series. Complete with demons being confronted, mind-blowing chemistry, a love like no other, and a baby that has everyone buzzing. This book will melt your heart.

Rare and Precious Things begins in an overlapping scene with the ending of Eyes Wide Open. We get the whole erotic shebang of Ethan and Brynne's wedding night, and honeymoon then move on to them making their life together. Through the dual POVs it is apparent that while they are both putting on a brave face Brynne and Ethan both suffer from the harassment of the demons of their pasts. The anxiety they both constantly feel is bleeding from their past to their present and threatening to smudge the beautiful life they have fought so hard for. The biggest trial Ethan and Brynne will face to date is putting said demons to rest before they bring their child into this world. It is a journey that is neither easy nor welcome. But with all these two had been through, I found it hard to believe their blissful love and happiness wouldn't win once again.

Rare and Precious Things is a must read for everyone. Haven't read the previous books? Hop to it and then catch up with this lovely and unapologetically perfect ending.  I will forever be envious of Brynne. And if I thought Ethan couldn't be more endearing, I was sorely mistaken. Just wait until you get a load of Daddy Blackstone. I don't think I have swooned that much in my entire life. This book is nothing like I thought it would be, it's a million time better. In short, this is one last journey of two people that are meant to be together but, have to learn those ropes in tandem, while fighting their pasts separately. Yes, they were there for each other but, only Ethan and Brynne could fight the monsters that still haunted them. They had to come to peace with their individual demons before they could solidify their life together, forever. And seeing them come together with their histories more under control and starting their life together was beautiful. Ethan and Brynne have to be two of the strongest characters I have ever read. And yes, I will miss them immensely but, I am so incredibly happy with where Ms. Miller left their story. However, I'm sure I will revisit them quite often. Ethan is just too yummy to stay away from for very long.

Happy Reading!

Meet Raine:

Raine Miller has been reading romance novels since she picked up that first Barbara Cartland book at the tender age of thirteen. And it's a safe bet she'll never stop, because now she writes them too! Granted Raine's stories are edgy enough to turn Ms. Cartland in her grave, but to her way of thinking, a hot, sexy hero never goes out of fashion. A part-time teacher and writer of sexy romance stories every other chance she gets pretty much fills her days. She has a handsome prince of a husband, and two brilliant sons to pull her back into the real world if the writing takes her too far away. Her sons know she likes to write stories, but gratefully have never asked to read any, thank God! Raine loves to hear from readers and to chat about the characters in her books.
