REVIEW ~Heat of the Moment by Robin Kaye~

Title: Heat of the Moment
Author: Robin Kaye
Release Date: October 21, 2014

My Rating: 4 Stars
Cameron O’Leary, a 4th generation firefighter turned arson investigator, thinks he’s the luckiest man in the world—after a year of sickness in the family, everyone’s finally on the mend, and his life can go back to its even keel. But even though Cameron has moved to Boston to be there for his family, some sort of live-in nurse is still necessary, given the demands of his job.

Erin Crosby is financing her master’s thesis in social work by acting as a home health care nurse. Working for Cameron seems like the perfect gig—low key, plenty of time to work on her thesis, and the patient is lovely. She might never have lived with a man before—she’s never found anyone she cared about that much, had barely even considered it—but Cameron is easy to live with, and an easy friendship blooms between them.

But it gets harder and harder for Cameron to keep his hands off of his charming employee—and for Erin to remember that she hasn’t really moved into Cameron’s life.

Heat of the Moment is a very heartfelt, sexy read. Cameron is a self-sufficient single dad. In walks Erin to care for his, now in remission, daughter. Before he knows it she's testing every patience he has, and evoking feelings he thought he had buried long ago. While Erin become far too attached to this man and his daughter. So attached that before she knows what's hit her she's fallen for both of them.

I'm really hoping this is just the tipping point of this series. In the short story, we meet a very wide array of characters that just scream to have their stories told. From Cameron's brothers, to Erin's friend, I'm really going to enjoy getting to know this cast of eccentrics even more. As for Erin and Cameron, there story was terrific. A perfect blend of reality and happily ever after. Ms. Kaye can sure pack a punch in a few pages.

Along with the steamy moments, there's anticipation from both Cameron and Erin. A fast relationship is not in either of their's character, yet when you've become a pseudo-family without even trying, how can either walk away? Albeit, this is not all sunshine and roses. there were a handful of moments where I got choked up. First at the beginning, because, good lord don't give a bright child like Janie a fight like that. It got to me. But it's a true gift. Robin Kaye had me sympathizing and caring for these characters before I even knew them. And once I did and Eric and Cameron went through their trials and tribulations, the feelings became even stronger. All in all, Heat of the Moment is quick, yet meaningful and sexy read that I would definitely suggest!

Happy Reading!

REVIEW ~You Own Me by Shiloh Walker~

Title: You Own Me
Author: Shiloh Walker
Release Date: August 4, 2014

My Rating: 4 Stars
It had always been her…
Ten years had passed since the doors slammed shut behind Decker Calhoun, taking away his freedom, but more importantly, locking him away from Elizabeth Waters, the only woman he’d ever loved—the woman he’d given up everything for.

The day he was sentenced, he’d looked at her and said, No regrets, Lizzie. But he lied, because he did have one. Although he’s been out of jail for three years now, he was a year too late. Lizzie never knew how he felt and just months before he was released, she found somebody else and it’s too late.

Or maybe not. It seems that Lizzie’s boyfriend wants an open relationship and two can play at that game. Now all Decker has to do is convince Lizzie that he’s the better man…and has been all along.

You Own Me reminded me how much I ADORE Shiloh Walker's books. Lizzie and Decker are two best friends that are plagued by one moment in time. A moment when Decker reached to the most primal part of himself and jumped to Lizzie's defense. A time that irrevocably changed both of their lives and altered their paths to each other.

In present day, Decker watches as  Lizzie see right through his compassion for her. Sure, they're still the best of friends. But he's well and truly been friend-zoned. Until her creep of a boyfriend makes a mistake that will throw Lizzie right into Decker's arms where Decker has always needed her to be. But Lizzie can't forget the events that spiraled her past out of control. She's never believed that Decker wanted her or she would have thrown herself at him long ago. Decker has to make all of the right moves at all the right times to paint a clearer past than Lizzie knows and to create a future with them together.

Decker is your resident hard a*s sweetheart. He'd do anything for Lizzie. Literally, anything. Meaning take down anyone who hurts her, and oppositely be the loving man of her dreams. He is a true dynamic character that I loved reading. Lizzie, well she's a firecracker. Or at least by the end of the she was. She made such a transformation from page one to the end. She found her self-worth, and took what she wanted. The thought to be unrequited love stories always get me, but You Own Me gave a much deeper feeling to the plot than most books. The emotions between Decker and Lizzie offered more. Even though the book was on the short side, it packed more feeling in than some other full length books I've read. This is not to be missed!

REVIEW ~Tamed by Rebecca Zanetti~

Title: Tamed
Author: Rebecca Zanetti
Series: Dark Protectors #6.5
Release Date: May 15, 2014

My Rating: 4 Stars
Caleb Donovan was never meant to be a prophet. At heart he's a conqueror, his appetites far more carnal than spiritual. He's not inclined to repress his passions and surrender to fate. After all, that's what cost him Lily—three centuries ago. She married another, because it was ordained. Now that he's in the same benighted calling—and forced into proximity with her—all the old desires are roaring back to life. . .

After widowhood and centuries of celibacy, Lily is eager to explore the wild side of life, except now she's vulnerable to another forced relationship, with an enemy. But this time she's determined to choose her own path. And if hot, furious Caleb comes charging to the rescue, it might just change both their destinies. . .

Love is about to start conquering. . .

This is just what I needed to hold me over until the next book from this series. More alpha sexiness and strong-willed women. Dark Protectors is quite possibly one of my favorite paranormal series. It keeps getting better and better each book. Tamed delivers everything that I love about this series. Caleb and Lily just about broke my heart. They're a forbidden love. Yet, Caleb is a "screw the rules" kind of guy and I couldn't be a bigger fan of his. Lily, on the other hand, is on the straight and narrow. She's the prophet that goes by the book. Caleb is the prophet that fights his destiny and rebels at every turn.

The connection  these two had was never smothered. When they're thrown together again they can't deny it. And when Lily begins to experience visions that cause her to second guess her rule abiding ways, it bends her entire reality. Including her once adamant rejection of Caleb. Can the rebel teach the angel to blur the lines? Will Lily learn that it's more important to do what is ethical by your own standards than what is right by someone else's?

I was thrilled to read this book. The forbidden love, and missed connection aspect really got to me. It made Lily and Caleb's relationship all the more special when they had to fight so hard for it. This story continues the arc that the entire series as followed. There's more unearthed about the doom coming soon. Janie Kayrs life is handing on by a thread. Who will live? Who will perish? And who will find their HEA? That's yet to be seen. There is going to be some MAJOR wrapping up needed in Janie's story. Her story is one of my most anticipated books of the year. I will be waiting not so patiently and reliving the amazing tales already produced in this series! I highly recommend this series for any lover of alpha men and paranormal books!

My Rating: 4 Stars!
Sent to the family ranch to overcome his addiction, Taylor Reese is angry and hurt. Feeling rejected by his father and brother, Taylor throws himself into ranch life to help him forget. He struggles with his addiction, though he refuses help. But it isn’t long before it hits him hard how much his life has spiraled out of control. He begins to question every aspect of his life, and the confusion leaves him floundering and looking for something, or someone, to cling to.

Libby Karlin is cautious, wary of Taylor’s presence. His brutal honesty and lack of respect claw at her composure. Her dark past makes her reluctant to let anyone near her family, but when Taylor strikes up a friendship with her son, Libby finds herself drawn to the sadness within him. His experiences are no secret to her. She sees where his world turned upside down and offers him a helping hand. But her own secrets stay buried, locked away until a knock on her door has her gasping for breath. Libby’s fear paralyzes her as she comes face to face with her demons and, determined to stay strong, she battles for a way out. Could dealing with their pasts really give them a future?

I have waited so long for this book and it was SO worth the wait! Taylor Reese was such a bad boy, screw up in Beneath the Surface. I could not wait to see how he redeemed himself. And boy did he! Sweet, sexy, and gruff- Taylor is my favorite kind of bad boy. Mixed with the kind, sweet, and responsible Libby. These two bantered and loved until the very end.

Taylor Reese finds himself at a crossroads. Continue down a destructive path and lose everything, or straighten out and find the will to live a life sans drugs and alcohol. On his way to sobriety, he meets Libby. She's got her own reasons to stay out of Taylor sight, but neither one can help themselves. They may have started off on the wrong foot, but as Libby sees Taylor's strength, and his kindness towards her son she finds may be over powered by her emotions. Taylor knows he not at his Uncle's ranch for the long haul. There's a time limit on his stay, and maybe Libby is just the woman to get him back in the saddle of living before he's thrown back into city life. The pair soon find their feelings escalating. But they both have a past that could shake their tenuous trust. Libby's could send her packing, and Taylor's could lose him Libby.

This book was something special. It wasn't easy, it wasn't heartwarming. It was gritty, rough, and intense. Libby and Taylor didn't just throw caution to the wind with their relationship. They talked it out, took reasonable steps and had scorching chemistry. It was incredibly realistic and amazing. Libby had ot take her son into account and Taylor had to think about his future. Their journeys didn't mesh, but their hearts did. It was the icing on the cake when Taylor stepped up and took responsibility not just for his actions, but for Libby and Levi, her son, too. Once he claimed them, there was no going back. And when the s-it hit the fan they had their fighting gloves on and persevered. End of story- this was a wonderful story and I hope there's more to come in this series!!

Meet M.A. Stacie:
M. A. Stacie is never without a book or her eReader. A voracious reader, with a love of sexy, yet angst ridden novels, she adores getting lost in new worlds. Her need to write did not grip her until after her second son was born, when her previous rambles became fully fledged stories. She describes herself as one huge contradiction, and though not the most conventional of hobbies, she counts getting new tattoos as one of hers. Running keeps her sane, along with knitting and listening to loud music.

REVIEW + GIVEAWAY ~Tamed by Emma Chase~

Title: Tamed
Author: Emma Chase
Series: Tangled #3
Release Date: July 15, 2014

My Rating: 4 Stars
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: girl meets player, they fall in love, player changes his ways.

It’s a good story. But it’s not our story. Ours is a lot more colorful.

When I met Dee I knew right away that she was special. When she met me, she thought I was anything but special—I was exactly like every other guy who’d screwed her over and let her down. It took some time to convince her otherwise, but turns out I can make a convincing argument when sex is at stake.

You might know where this story’s headed. But the best part isn't where we ended up.

It’s how we got there.

TAMED goes back in time to the Tangled days. But this time around, it’s not Drew dishing out the advice and opinions—it’s his best friend Matthew, who of course is dealing with Dee Dee.

Emma Chase continues to write books that astound me. Her characters are hilarious and riveting. With Tamed, she returned back to her roots and wrote it in the male POV. Being inside Matthew's head was a lot like being in Drew's but I didn't want to throttle him as much :) Matthew is what I call good people. He fights and gives until he can't anymore. He's sexy as hell and funny to boot. Pair him along with a ballsy, yet romantically gun-shy woman and you've got an enthralling, lusty, and magnetic book.

Overview- Matthew is Drew's, from Tangled, best friend. The story of Tamed happens mostly parallel to Tangled's story line. We get a whole new view of what was happening across town. Which was Matthew falling head over heels and scaring the beejesus out of Dee. Yes, the same Dee who is Kate's best friend. So playboy turned devoted boyfriend, and genius, casual dater turned running for the hills. Matthew was attracted to Dee on the spot. Naturally he went after her. Being two attractive people, naturally she reciprocated, but called it quits after one night. Until Mr. Relentless came out to play. Matthew had a taste of heaven, he wasn't about to give it up. When Dee and Matthew decide to give their relationship a try, it's not an easy road. For as much of a calm and collected demeanor Dee shows on the outside, when someone gets too close she balks. And she continues to turn tail until Matthew's had enough. He'll either force her to reign her fears in, or give up the chance at a happily ever after.

This book was fantastic. It was a quick read for me. I completely devoured it. Emma Chase does the male POV unlike any other author I know. She's crass, honest, and intelligent all rolled into one nice Matthew package. I'm going to be honest, I liked Tamed a little bit more than Tangled. Only because Matthew wasn't nearly as douchey as Drew. Of course, Drew won me over eventually, but Matthew had me from the get-go and never lost my affection. Who he was when we met him and who he continued to be as part of a duo with Dee made this story for me. Dee gave me a couple of headaches, but she came through when it was pertinent. All in all this was a fantastic read and once I will definitely be adding to my physical copy bookshelf. And I will ABSOLUTELY be adding the next installment to this witty series to my TBR list!

Happy Reading!
