REVIEW ~The Wild Side by R.K. Lilley~

Title: The Wild Side
Author: R.K. Lilley
Release Date: May 21, 2014

My Rating: 5+ Stars!
Alasdair Masters is in a rut. He just hit forty, has been nearly celibate for the past year, and his life has turned into a daily sequence of lonely patterns that revolve around avoiding human contact.

His tidy life is turned on its head when a hot young blonde at the gym that’s been pseudo-stalking him decides to rock his world. A very young blonde. Way, way too young for him. The problem is, he can’t seem to tell her no, and she just keeps coming back for more.

It doesn’t help that he’s ninety percent sure she’s a criminal, and still, he can’t seem to turn her down. What is a dull introvert to do when a chaotic cyclone that oozes sexuality comes twisting into his life?

At first, he thinks she’ll give him a heart attack, but after his twenty-year marriage ended a year ago, he’s been a little lost, and when she comes crashing into his life, he realizes that he’s never felt more alive.

Is a walk on the wild side just what he needs to get his on track or a disaster in the making? Is it possible for someone that much younger to be just what he needs, or is she a fortune hunter, as everyone keeps telling him? Is it his hormones telling him that the mysterious younger woman is the one, or could it be more?
The Wild Side is mind-blowing trip down a lust-filled road. Alasdair is 40 year-old author. He is in complete control oh his life. Until Iris catches his eye at the gym. From there Iris and Alasdair can't get enough of one another. He's got hang-ups about their ages. She on the other hand is an enigma. However, they put secrecy and ages aside and completely consume one another. In public, in private. In a pool, shower, bed, kitchen. It's a free-for-all where these two are concerned. Too soon though the lust-filled haze is clearing and the logical part of Dair's brain kick in. Granted, it's not my version of logic, because I kind of like their age difference. Yet, he has to come to terms with it and Iris has to give more of herself than just her body. When Dair begins to ask questions and let his mind wander into the future he balks and says the words he wish he could take back. It's too late though. Iris has taken it upon herself to solve his problem for him.

Alasdair is completely endearing. A man that has no control around his woman... way attractive. Iris is just a mystery to everyone and quite hilarious. She's a character that will keep you off kilter the whole time. The Wild Side is completely told from Dair's POV. So I have no idea who Iris really is. However, I can't wait to find out. This book is filled with raunchy sex after raunchy sex. It'll definitely get you hot under the collar. It also sucks you in and enraptured me from the get-go. I know Dair's story, but now I need Iris'. Thankfully we're getting it soon (June 27th to be exact). With the ending though Dair's got a lot to make up for and Iris has a lot of explaining to do. R.K. Lilley has completely stopped me in my tracks and wowed me once again. I'm addicted to this story and am waiting with bated breath for the next installment!

Happy Reading!

REVIEW ~Dreamweaver Trail by Emily March~

Title: Dreamweaver Trail
Author: Emily March
Series: Eternity Springs #8
Release Date: May 27, 2014

My Rating: 3 Stars
Love and forgiveness spin their magic as a woman discovers that home is where her heart belongs in Emily March’s moving new Eternity Springs novel.

After another lonely Valentine’s Day, Gabi Romano trades mountain snowfall for sunshine and sand at a luxurious Caribbean getaway. There she discovers a hidden talent for creating fine art glass. She also meets Flynn Brogan, the sexy caretaker next door who brings her fantasies to life. But when violence interrupts their romantic interlude, she learns that Flynn is living a lie. Heartsick, she decides to concentrate on her craft. Playing with fire is safer than loving a man like Flynn.

Flynn is determined to make things right with Gabi—until his enemies interfere. Now damaged and driven by a need he cannot define, he seeks out Gabi’s Colorado community, hoping for reconciliation and some peace. But he never imagined a place like Eternity Springs, where lives are changed, second chances are given, and the possibility exists for two wounded souls to find their way home . . . to each other.

Gabi Romano has taken to finding herself. After a traumatic event and leaving behind her career she's hell bent on finding someone that makes her feel good again. Ironically, Flynn Seagraves is on that same path. He's got a murky, and devastating path that he's running from and being high profile doesn't help matters. The hurt, and loss send these two running right into one another. However, they can only escape from reality for so long. After a blissful couple of weeks secrets are unearthed, old wounds are reopened and after a strange turn of events they'll find themselves on opposing sides and running once again.

The good:
You can definitely expect the same heart warming and quippy dialogue from Ms. March in the eight installment. Gabi has been such a firecracker in the previous books, but she really lays it out in this one. She got on the fast track to becoming one of my favorite heroines in Eternity Spring. Flynn on the other hand- my heart just ached for him. He had the worst of the worst hands dealt to him. As a result he became brooding and shut off. Although, you know how much I love a brooder so it worked in his favor. The dynamics between Gabi and Flynn were quite adorable. They may be tough on the outside, but they melt when they're around each other. A trait that I always find so incredibly endearing. Side note- Bismarck is the absolute BEST! Love that dog. Probably made the story 5 times better with his antics.

The bad:
This book took a very strange turn. I won't give it away, but about a third to a half of the way through the book I was left completely baffled. Take the circumstances out and I sort of like where the story arc was headed. However, the circumstances seemed too far-fetched for me. It took this once fun-loving series so a very peculiar place. Second bone to pick- I didn't get enough time in Eternity Spring catching up with everyone. I understand that at book eight something has to give otherwise the book would be 1,000 pages long. BUT a the first half of the book doesn't even take place in the quirky little town.

Overall:
I still loved my trip to Eternity Springs. I don't think I'll ever say no to reading a book in this series because I feel like I know everyone in real life. I have a laundry list full of characters who I can't wait to see what happens to. These books do have a reputation with adding some semi-outlandish suspense into the mix. I just think this plot twist took it a little too far. Don't get me wrong I still thoroughly enjoyed this book, I'll just have to put aside the whole mind-boggling aspect. Bottom line- if you love the Eternity Springs series I still think you'll enjoy it. If you haven't read them, then you need to and start with book 1 right now! :)

Happy Reading!

I’d do anything to keep my mother alive.

Anything, including ask Ian Kerr for help. I don’t know much about him, except that he has more money than some small countries. And he’s willing to spend it on me. Just one catch: there’s a string attached, and not just the one I feel pulling me into his arms and his bed. There’s also the plan for revenge he wants my help with.

Every time he says my name, it makes my body shiver and my heart stutter. I know he’s going to wreck me, know there won’t be anything left of me but lust and sensation by the time he’s done with me, but even though I can see the heartbreak coming towards me like a train, ready to crash into me, I can’t get out of the way. I want what he makes me feel. Want what he’s offering.

This may have started out as something to save my mother, but now…now it’s about what he makes me feel. I’m in danger of losing everything that’s important. Worse? Ian's whispered words and hot caresses are making me believe that's okay.
“What makes you think I’ll be done with you?” He says and he moves my hands upward until they meet in an arch above my head and he can grip my wrists in one big fist. Free, his left hand slides down my arm, leaving a trail of goose bumps in his wake. His mouth is on my chin, my jaw, and then my neck. He’s tasting me, pressing the flat of his tongue against my racing pulse.

“Maybe I’ll never be done with you and your solid gold pussy.”

At the last word, he closes his mouth over that pulse point and sucks hard. The only thing holding me up is his hand around my wrist. He pumps his thigh against me and an involuntary moan escapes my lips.

“I don’t care,” I manage to choke out this obvious lie because my body cares a lot.

“I’m not a toy. You don’t get to put me in Barbie’s expensive town home and play with me until you’re bored. I’m a fucking real person and my mom’s a real person. And we don’t need this shit right now.”

He doesn’t stop my diatribe but he doesn’t lift his mouth from my skin either. He’s sucking hard at the spot where my neck curves into my shoulder and his hand is under my ass, moving me backward and forward along his thigh. His other hand has worked its way under my shirt and is palming my breast, a large thumb rubbing my nipple. I realize my hands are free and that I’ve been holding them above my head while he rubs all over me. When I drop my hands to his shoulders I find I can’t push him anyway. Instead, I’m using his shoulders as leverage to grind down on his thigh.

The nerve endings of my sex are hyper sensitized and I swear I can feel every thread of his superfine wool pants. His leg moves, a tiny hitch, but it interrupts the rhythm and removes the pressure.

“Don’t you stop,” I threaten him, all the heat in my tone has turned from anger to throaty desire.

“Shh, bunny, I got you.”

He lifts me completely and spins me around. I have no option but to wrap my legs around him. A few quick steps and we’re in another bedroom with one giant bed and nothing much else. He tumbles me back onto the bed and then lowers himself on top of me, and there’s nothing in my field of vision but the hard planes of his face and the ruddy flush of desire on the high points of his cheekbones. He looks fierce and hungry.

Before I can capture another thought, his mouth is on mine and his hand is pushing aside the lace of my soaked panties. I’m moaning from both the feel of his thick tongue inside of my mouth and the sensation of one and then two of his fingers thrusting inside me. Sucking hard on his tongue, I lift my hips to grind against his hand.

His free hand spears my hair and tugs my head back as if he can’t get his tongue deep enough inside me. He tastes of spearmint and earthiness, of true desire. My whole body is alive and it’s straining toward him, toward completion. I brace my feet against the mattress, seeking more pressure.

Breaking away from his mouth, I pant, “Harder. Fuck me harder with your fingers.”

I give him a quick once over. His suit is ruined. He never took even his coat off when he finger fucked me and I’m guessing the fragile wool wasn’t meant to be worn during any intense physical encounters. There are creases in the arms and shoulders were I clutched him and was that a … stain on his thigh. I ducked my head to hide my embarrassment. “You owe me a lot of explanations.”

“I’ll be here when you’re done. Come back and we'll talk.”

I give him an absent nod but it’s not sufficient of a response for him. He strides over and tips my head back.

“I’m having this suit bronzed, you know.”

My cheeks heat because I know he’s referring to the mark in the wool made from my arousal. He leans down and gives me a hard kiss.

“Come back here tonight.” It’s a demand and not a question.
