REVIEW ~Drifter by Bella Jewel~

Title: Drifter
Author: Bella Jewel
Series: MC Next Generation #2
Release Date: March 21, 2016

My Rating: 4 Stars
They say opposites attract.

In my world that isn’t a good thing.

I did everything I could to escape the motorcycle club I grew up in when I turned twenty-one.

It wasn’t about fear, or betrayal, or even lack of love.

I just needed my own life.

I had to know how it felt to stand on my own two feet without their protection.

Then I met Diesel.

Mysterious, dark, with eyes that screamed to be understood.

From the second I met him, I knew I needed to be in his life.

There’s just one problem – he’s a member of a different motorcycle club.

Two things that should never be combined.

Yet I can’t stay away. No matter how hard he pushes. I can see beyond his mask.

I need to know who he is and I’ll overcome any obstacle to be in his life.

A friendship is born, followed by an epic love.

Our relationship is forbidden.

But I’ll do anything to be in his life.

Anything.
This is my first Bella Jewel book and it will not be my last. Drifter is book two in the MC Next Generation series and while I have a feeling that it might not have been as dark as the spinoff series, there is plenty of edgy, dark MC action to sink your teeth into. This book deals with the ultimate star-crossed lovers topic. Mercedes and Diesel are the children of their MC clubs. They meet in college and from the get-go have a pretty unique relationship. Diesel especially seems to be a much different character than I am used to. He tries so hard to fight who and what he is, but he just can't. I think with Mercedes by his sides he begins to accept that. Until he discovers her lie, but just as she levitated him when he was lost, he does the same with her. Their banter together is highly enjoyable, though the actions while actually at college are a bit childish, and not just from them, but the atmosphere in general. But again, when the story comes back to them as a couple and their attraction is block everything else for me as a reader.

To be honest, this book was a bit all over the place. There were some very good storylines throughout the I absolutely enjoyed, but the resolution of them were either told instead of seen, or they were forgotten. Though I didn't feel that those aspects detracted all that much from the romance of it all. I wish we had seen a bit more of Diesel and Mercedes as a couple, and the MC actually dealing with the main issue at hand, and really having Diesel and Mercedes more involved in that part of it. Though, that may have played into one of the bigger parts of the book which was that they accepted their spots in the MC, but held onto their individuality also.

Drifter definitely isn't your typical MC. Though , this book made me a bit desperate to read the stories of the MC couples that made cameos in the book. This book is unique in its character building and relationship building, and while I did have my grievances with certain parts of it, it kept my attention from beginning to end. Bottom line - would I recommend it? Yep! I think it was an enjoyable read, and I'll definitely be looking into more from this author.

Happy Reading!
