"Chris and I have faced our demons and bared our souls to one another in Paris. Now that we are back home in San Francisco, I want to believe that nothing can tear us apart. Not Ava’s accusations against me to the police, or Chris's fear that he will destroy me as he feels he did Amber. And not Mark, who was once too intimately a part of our lives, and who I can see crumbling inside out. He believes he is invincible, just as I want to believe Chris and I are invincible. We have to be invincible. We need each other too much for any other ending."
No In Between picks up as Chris and Sara return from Paris. Many questions are unanswered at the beginning of this book. Some are answered, some are left for I Belong to You, Mark Compton's POV novel coming in November. True to the brilliance that this series has delivered thus far, No In Between raises the bar. In short, I felt like I was drowning while reading this book. All of the characters were SO much. I promise you it was in a delightful way. It was impossible to see beyond the book in my hands. I was completely submerged in Sara's mind and help immobile by Chris and Mark's dominance.
At one point or another every character had me sniffling, furious, flummoxed and giddy. Most of all, what Ms. Jones achieves in this book, as with her others, is to make her readers feel every ounce of devastation and love that her characters feel. No In Between takes us through the the wreckage that was left in San Francisco after Being Me. Chris and Sara come back to the hectic turmoil that is Allure and an upturned life. Mark, due to both the revelations in Being Me and his family ordeal back in New York, is a shell of the man he once was. I didn't know which way to look, who was telling the truth, who deserved my alliance. I was absorbed and guessing until the final chapters. Again, we get some answers, and of course it wouldn't be an Inside Out novel if I wasn't left with some burning questions.
To be honest, this book left me a bit of a wreck. I'm so torn, I don't know where it's going or even where I want it to go. The only thing I am sure of, is that I'll have a hell of a time getting there and enjoy every bit of it. This series and its characters have me utterly enamored. I've said it before, and I'll say it again- this isn't a quick read series. I've become so invested that it could go one for another 20 books and I'd read every one of them. It's a true story. I know it is coming to a close in February with the final novella, All of Me, but it won't stop me from wanting more. Yet, with every new book, some puzzle pieces fall together while some ongoing ongoing mysteries or new ones are left open. No In Between did exactly that. However, it left me at peace with certain characters, and not with others. But, the solace there is that I know there's going to be more and I know every character will get the story and ending they deserve. If you haven't jumped on this series, I'd do it now! It's definitely one of my favorites!
