BLOG TOUR REVIEW + GIVEAWAY ~Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh~

Title: Rock Addiction
Author: Nalini Singh
Series: Rock Kiss #1
Release Date: September 9, 2014

My Rating: 3.75 Stars

A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk…

Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media’s harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.

A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that’s all it was meant to be…

Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he’ll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn’t only her body that’s become addicted to Fox, but her heart…

Rock Addiction calls for another of my good, bad and overall reviews -
The Good
This is my first Nalini Singh books, and after my experience with Rock Addiction and how she drew me into ALL of the characters, she will definitely hold a place on my TBR list. This book has some serious WOW factor when it comes to the romance and sex. Fox is absolutely to die for. He's a hard rocker, with a dirty mouth, a temper and a sweet disposition (most of the time). I truly loved his character. Molly, while she wasn't perfect or badass, she was real. She and Fox both have very troubling and scarring pasts. Fox doesn't let it define him. He's learned to live for himself. Molly, on the other hand, does the exact opposite. She lets her past into every aspect of her future and present. It screws with her relationships and how she sees the world. But, she's also not adverse to learning from Fox. That's the beauty of their relationship. He teaches her how to move on, and not harp on the bad you've experienced in your life. Their relationship and lives really struck a chord with me. It wasn't sunshine and roses, or even utter heartache and angst. It was two people that had a shi**y hand in their past and learned from it and each other. I can get behind that. Why? Because what I saw in Molly was a lot of character growth. That's what makes this book so good. The growth in Molly and Fox as the formed a life together what fascinating to watch.

The Bad
I mentioned the sex above, well there might have been a little too much of it. I get that it's a connection for the characters, and normally I'm complaining that there wasn't enough sexy times, but I think Rock Addiction just went a little overboard. It wasn't unbearable by any means, but I did find myself beginning to flip pages during the down and dirty. The only other downside I have to this book is the reiteration of what Molly went through. This was mostly just a problem for me during the first, maybe 15% of the book, the rest was much better and the story line flowed incredibly well, in my opinion.

Overall
Would I recommend Rock Addiction? Absolutely. Despite the few negatives I mentioned there are so many positives. This world Ms Singh has built is truly captivating. I loved, loved all of the characters and I can't wait to get their stories too. Fox and Molly were both a good intro for the series and I can definitely see them being the "Mom and Dad" of the group now. In the end, the good FAR outweighs the bad and places this book as a good read. And the writing, while my dislikes cover the content, the writing of this book is superb. Very engaging. I will definitely be keeping my eye open for more from Nalini Singh!

Happy Reading!

RELEASE DAY + REVIEW + GIVEAWAY ~Lead by Kylie Scott~

Title: Lead
Author: Kylie Scott
Series: Stage Dive #3
Release Date: July 29, 2014

My Rating: 4.5 Stars
Stay up all night with the sexy rockers in Stage Dive, the epic rock star romance series from New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott, author of Lick and Play.

As the lead singer of Stage Dive, Jimmy is used to getting whatever he wants, whenever he wants it, whether it's booze, drugs, or women. However, when a PR disaster serves as a wake-up call about his life and lands him in rehab, he finds himself with Lena, a new assistant to keep him out of trouble.

Lena's not willing to take any crap from the sexy rocker and is determined to keep their relationship completely professional, despite their sizzling chemistry. But when Jimmy pushes her too far and Lena leaves, he realizes that he may just have lost the best thing that ever happened to him.
“Lena, you seen my old black Led Zep shirt?”

“Nope.”

“You sure?” His brows became one dark cranky line. The scratches on his face were healing well, thank goodness. Though it didn’t reduce my desire to throttle his mother on a daily basis.

“Yes. I haven’t seen it.”

Can’t find it anywhere…”

“And this is a surprise, how?” I slipped my hands into my back jean’s pockets. “Jimmy, you own more clothing than Cher, Brittney, and Elvis, put together. Things are bound to go missing.”

“Sure you haven’t seen it?”

“For goodness sake, what do you think, Jimmy? That I stole it to sleep in or something?” I laughed bitterly. Sure as hell, the truth deserved a good mocking. I’d sunk so despicably low.

I hadn’t even meant to steal the stupid thing, but the shirt had been mixed up with my laundry a few days ago. It’d been the first top I laid my hand on after stepping out of the shower, ready to go to bed. Without thought, I’d put it on and it’d been so soft, the scent of him lingering beneath the laundry detergent. Every night since, I’d found myself in it come bedtime. My shame knew no limits. And no, I still hadn’t quit. The words still hadn’t come even close to leaving my mouth.

He frowned. “No.”

“That I have some deep secret longing to feel close to you resulting in my stealing your shirt like some creepy perv?”

“Course I don’t fucking think that,” he replied crankily, reaching up to grip the top of the doorframe. All of his bulging muscles stretched the arms of his white T-shirt in the nicest way. It was all I could do not to start drooling, my heart beat taking up residence somewhere down between my thighs. And who could blame it? Not me. Maybe if I got laid, this would go away and things would return to normal. It’d seemed safer to avoid rubbing up against any men just in case I got carried away and started dating again. This new situation, however, changed everything.

“Well, of course not! That would be crazy.” And wasn’t that the god’s honest truth? Cray-zeee. Lock me up and throw away the key because it wasn’t like I didn’t know better.

“Just can’t figure out where the hell it could be.”

Angels couldn’t have smiled as innocently. They might have tried, but they would have failed, the dirty-mouthed, winged, little liars. “Jimmy, I don’t know where it is. But I’ll look around for it later, okay?”

“Yeah,” he said, and then added as an afterthought, “and stop looking at me weird.”

“I’m not!”

Full disclosure- this was my first Kylie Scott book and she has made me a fan for life. Lead was a very unexpected and amazing read. I've heard the buzz, I was pretty sure I was going to enjoy it, but I LOVED it! Ms. Scott effortlessly wraps up humor, heat, and drama in the third installment on her Stage Dive series.

If this is even just a taste of what I can expect from the rest of the series, I'll just be over here one-clicking away. Jimmy has a lot of living and apologizing to do. You may think, based on his previous and hazardous lifestyle that he's lived enough, but he needs to live a normal and healthy life. Enter Lena. She's a ball to the wall, no nonsense woman you just happened to fall into the role of Jimmy's sober companion. Yet, she is painfully aware that she has stronger feelings than just friendship towards Jimmy. Although, Jimmy being the obtuse man that he is, is resistant to her feelings. He won't even hear of it. He's not ready. Yet, as they hatch a plan to allow them both to move on with their lives, Jimmy will find he doesn't like the idea of someone else's hands on Lena, and Lena will find that she'll never kick her addiction to Jimmy. what are two hopelessly in love, yet stubborn people to do? Fight tooth and nail for what they way.

The best aspect of this book is Jimmy and Lena's relationship. Even when it turns more serious, their friendship always comes first. Their tumble into a physical relationship is slow. It was sweet most of the time and hotter than hell when it warranted it. I enjoyed every piece of this book. I lived for the moments of Lena and Jimmy sparring back and forth, and laughed out loud at the moment where the band was all together and at their height of ridiculousness. I do have to say- Mal stole the spotlight a time or two, I will definitely be reading his book next. And Ben.. well I think I know where his story is going and I'm so flipping excited about it. In the end, I loved this book from beginning to end. There was nothing I would change about it. I definitely highly recommend Jimmy's story. You won't be disappointed!!

Happy Reading!

REVIEW ~Strings of the Heart by Katie Ashley~

Title: Strings of the Heart
Author: Katie Ashley
Series: Runaway Train #3
Release Date: May 12, 2014

My Rating: 5 Stars
Twenty year old, Allison Slater has been in love with her brother’s bandmate, Rhys McGowan, since she was fifteen years old. But to him, she’ll always be Jake’s little sister and off limits. Now a college sophomore and licking her wounds from a bad breakup, she sets her sights on making Rhys see her as someone he could date…maybe even love. Her opportunity comes when Rhys visits his parents in Savannah where she is attending college. But the night she’s dreamed of turns to heart-break, and she realizes she’ll never be the one for Rhys.

For Rhys McGowan, his nightmare began when he woke up, naked and hung-over, next to his bandmate’s little sister. Unable to remember a thing from the previous night, he only makes matters worse by lying to Allison about not being interested in her. The truth is he’s spent the last year to ignore his body’s reaction whenever Allison is around. His resolve is tested when Allison comes on tour with Runaway Train, as both Jake and Abby’s nanny and to fulfill her fashion design internship. The more time he spends with her in the close quarters of the bus, the harder it is for him to resist.

Will Rhys realize that having a relationship with Allison is worth fighting for even if it means that he has to fight his best friend for a chance?

This book is swoon central. Let's touch on the fact that this is my all time favorite trope. The best friend and the little sister. Gets me every time. However, Katie Ashley does it in a way that made my heart palpitate just from the emotions of her characters. Allison and Rhys were so obviously meant to be, that when they weren't it truly made me sad. Their story is incredibly awesome though. A lot of love, lust, and infuriating moments passed between these two and I loved every second of it. I will say the one thing that sets Strings of the Heart aside from the other books is its structure. Ms. Ashley shares the story of Rhys and Allison starting in the present, dropping in a few flashbacks, then fully submerging the reader into a time 3 months ago where everything changed for the couple. I liked actually going back and experiencing the whole ordeal instead of just touching on parts throughout the book. It was also unique in that, that chunk of the book you really get to know the characters separate of the band and their main connection, Jake, Allison's brother. It was refreshing to see that they had built a relationship all on their own. That, if you took away the band and her brother, they still had two legs to firmly stand on and could make this thing work.

Allison may have been in love with Rhys since she was 13, but he has been oblivious to every ounce of her affection until now. During a 3 week trip home everything changes for them. They are both virtually alone in Savannah, GA- him visiting his cold-hearted family, her going to school- and their loneliness consumes them. Until, Rhys decides to drop in and say hello. They find solace with one another and begin to have a relationship beyond what theirs was originally built on- the band and her brother. Suffice it to say, Rhys is still not ready to confront his feelings. Be it, he's scared, or he truly can't face the music, he's not ready to give himself fully to Allison. Fast forward three months and the pair will be in close quarters while Allison is helping with the outfits for their tour, and helping watch over her niece and nephew. Rhys' resolve is waning and when Allison starts slipping away he has to make a fast decision that will change a lot of people's lives. Is their relationship worth the risk? Can he learn to love?

There were equal times when I wanted to pummel and hug Allison and Rhys. In the end, this couple touched my heart. I loved their tug-o-war story. It hooked me from chapter one until the very end. They evolve as a couple, and inherently know what the other is thinking and needing. It's all very captivating and heart-melting. Let's not forget their scorching scenes because those worth fan-worthy as well. Although, I would have loved to see more of the pool house side to their sex life. Things got a little heated up in there! Anyways, in short- this story is lovely. It's a push and pull, "all the feels" type story. You get to revisit old friends from previous books and develop an all new love and appreciation for Rhys and Allison. Really couldn't ask for more from this sexy, rocker story! Can't wait to get a glimpse of Brayden and Lily's story coming soon :)

Happy Reading!
