REVIEW + GIVEAWAY ~Strings by Kendall Grey~

Title: Strings
Author: Kendall Grey
Series: Hard Rock Harlots #1
Release Date: April 20, 2013

My Rating: 4 Stars
WARNING: STRINGS is not suitable for slut shamers, uptight stone throwers, Holier-Than-Thou prudes, humorless virgins, persons with chronic neck or back pain, pearl-clutching bitties, those who disparage crude humor or vulgarity in their many forms, closed-minded people with sticks up their asses, or anyone under the age of 18. The vile, base language and shocking, unholy sexual acts contained herein are not condoned by anyone with a lick of sense and should certainly not be reproduced without proper training and protection. The potty-mouthed and perpetually horny "heroine" (the term is used loosely) of this book does not resemble a normal, well-adjusted, or remotely believable person in any way, shape, or form. The author acknowledges that the characters in this book are shallow and two-dimensional; the plot is both ridiculous and insipid. She makes no apologies for any of it.

* Readers are strongly advised to wear latex gloves whilst reading to minimize contamination risks.

Free-spirited musician Letty Dillinger adheres to a strict, “no strings attached” policy when it comes to men. After a wild night of unabashed sex in a fancy hotel room, she never expects to see the adventurous stud she dubs “Shades” again. When her all-girl rock trio books a tour at the last minute as the opening act for their archenemies, Letty’s shocked to discover she knows the competition’s new lead singer. Intimately. Shades is no longer a one-night stand. Now he’s the guy she has to one-up on stage every night for the sake of her career.

Sharing close quarters on a bus with her sexy nemesis and his bad-boy buddies puts Letty’s Golden Rule to the test. On this tour, guitar strings aren’t the only things being played. And when heartstrings are pulled too hard, they’re bound to snap sooner or later.

Holy Hell! That's all I have to say, review over... Ok, fine I'll expand. This book is so incredibly over the top. In everything. The sex (oh jeez, do not read this is the company of others), the characters, the humor. All of it is just SO much. Not too much because it's funnier than any book I've ever read, and dirtier too, which all get a great big star in my opinion. But whatever you take away from the warning multiply it, because this is unlike any book I have ever read.

Letty Dillinger is a slutty, kick butt, rock your face off chick. She gives zero effs about what anyone thinks, but she still has a huge heart that she loves entirely with. Make no mistake, that loving heart of hers does not bring any fluff to her. She will stick up for her friend on minute but, if you cross her she will turn around and cut you out. So, said rock chick is in a band struggling to make their way to the top. They have what is takes but, not the connections to get there. With a push from their manager the begin touring with an all male band, who happen to be the girls' archenemies. Complete with a new lead singer, who Letty happened to use to her sexual content just the other night. Shades is just as free-spirited as Letty. Together their sex is dirty and entirely physical. Imagine both of their surprise when their feelings begin to mesh and they find themselves more invested than they ever imagined.

This book is not a fairy tale. The love is not gushy, or extremely heartfelt. The characters play dirty, talk dirty, and their sexual preferences are even dirtier. Their humor is 100% gold. I'll admit, even give the warning I was shocked to my core by this book. But I couldn't stop reading it. The author is completely unforgiving. Ms. Grey could care less about her brash writing, and scarring my poor, naive imagination. The shock factor wins out though. It sucked me in until the end. Don't imagine this to be your normal, "aww cute" ending. It's more of a "Rock On!" ending. Very apt considering the subject matter. Shades and Letty would rather screw like monkeys than gaze sappily into each others eyes. Which works just fine for me. I could not have enjoyed this book more. And now I must bid my farewell to catch up with Jinx and Toombs because their chemistry and kinky, eye screwing have me completely entranced and I must know what happens with them!

REVIEW + GIVEAWAY! ~Sins and Scarlet Lace by Liliana Hart~

Title: Sins and Scarlet Lace
Author: Liliana Hart
Series: The MacKenzie Brothers #9
Release Date: April 16, 2013

My Rating: 5 Stars

Declan MacKenzie has loved the same woman for as long as he can remember, but after a mission early on in his career turns deadly, he realizes he can never have a wife or family and keep them safe. So he watches her marry another man.

Sophia Huxley is involved in a nightmare. Her late husband has been labeled a traitor and he's made her the fall guy. There's no one she can call to prove her innocence. Except the man who broke her heart.
I have read all of the previous Mackenzie books and Sins and Scarlet Lace does not disappoint! First off, I am such a sucker for a second chance romance. Declan and Sophia had every opportunity for a happily ever after, but Declan could not justify putting Sophia’s life in danger because of his job. What Declan did not know was that by sacrificing their happily ever after, and pushing Sophia into the arms of another man, he would change them both irreparably.

To me Declan is, or was, one of the more anguished characters in the MacKenzie series. I could tell that his heart was broken before I even knew about Sophia. But, in Sins and Scarlet Lace we see so much more of him, and his demons. Despite what Sophia had to go through, I think it actually made her a stronger person, and a woman more able handle Declan’s past, and future. I feel that neither one of them were ready, as a couple, in the past to take on the kind of commitment and strength it takes to be a part of Declan’s lifestyle. The time apart and the journey they went through ended up making them an invincible couple.

Now that Sophia is taking the fall for her ex-husband’s traitorous activities, Declan is stepping up and taking care of what was always his. Declan may be all gung-ho about jumping back into their love-fest, but Sophia has some reservations. She has just escaped one damaging relationship, can she risk her heart and soul so quickly with what might be another one? Sophia definitely struggles with herself in this book. For some time her heart and her mind are at war on what is best for her. Eventually, her heart wins out. While in the midst of a battle between life and death, Sophia and Declan reignite their passion. I loved the chemistry between these two; you can tell that they never really stopped loving one another. And of course the sex is HOT!

Ms. Hart has this uncanny ability to create a story and characters that her readers fall in love with. I have not read a book of hers that I did not absolutely LOVE. With Declan and Sophia I felt such a deeper connection, their emotions seemed magnified because of their past. I really cannot say enough fabulous things about Sins and Scarlet Lace, and the MacKenzie series in general. If you are looking for a book with equal parts steam and suspense, you've found it!

Happy Reading!

REVIEW: Real ~ Katy Evans

Title: Real
Author: Katy Evans
Series: Real, Raw & Ripped #1
Release Date: April 8, 2013

My Rating: 5+ Stars

Synopsis:
He even makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting…

Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I've ever met in my life.

He’s the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit, and I’m drawn to him as I’ve never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he’s near, I need to remind myself that I am strong–but he is stronger. And now it’s my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents . . .

But the one he’s most threatening to, now, is me.

I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations.

If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

My Review:
Oh boy, Real has got to be one of the best books of the year.

Yes, I'm late to the Remy party, but I'm here and and I could not be more excited! This book was intense, fun and heart-wrenching. Remington "Riptide" Tate is not like everyone else, he cannot control his anger or mood swings, and most of those who see his darker side fear him. Enter Brooke. She cannot help but be drawn to this enigmatic guy. For their own reasons neither Brooke nor Remy will give into their passion at first. Don't fret though, it was not one of those frustrating cat and mouse chases. Yes, they have their ups and downs, which their passion fuels, but it is all worth the wait. Their journey was so enthralling, I couldn't predict what anyone was going to do, but I could not wait to find out!

"Because I hate what he does to me. I hate that I want him like this, I hate that I feel so volatile, I want to tear his eyes out and then go cry about it."
~Brooke

Remy has finally found someone he can trust, that won't hurt him, and that truly understands and loves him without question. Brooke has had a rough go after graduating college, but Remy fixes her unemployment problem. Before Brooke even starts to work with Remy he has become so much more than her employer. Remy and Brooke have this instant connection, and hold great protectiveness for each other. Finally, we see a story where the woman is just as, if not more, fiercely protective of her man. She even goes to the lengths of protecting him from those he has known for years. They share their secrets with one another, and refuse to let anyone in their bubble. Brooke provides a security for Remy and saves him from himself and others unlike anyone else in his life... but she also evokes those darkest feelings and urges that she has to save him from. Their relationship is a lot of give and take, and Brooke has to force him to see reason more than once. They don't just connect on an emotional level, their time between the sheets is HOT! There were quite a few time where I had put my ereader down and control my blushing. Brooke and Remy have found equals in each other and I am so excited to see where their journey leads them.

"I want you to be my fucking REAL."
~Remy

The circumstances behind Real are very intriguing. It is rare that we see an author take on, what some might call a stigma such as the one discussed in Real, and it is done beautifully no less. It was not just a gloss over point, Katy Evans digs deep behind the why and how with Remy and still writes a very captivating story that I loved. She conveys such raw emotions it will make your heart ache... in a good way :) These characters made me feel their pain and happiness and by the end I was completely invested in their lives. I am so thrilled this will be an ongoing series and we will see more of Remy and Brooke!
*Note: Target's paperback version has a bonus scene that you don't want to miss!*
