Famous former NFL stars don't date single working moms like Bailey Voss. She'll allow herself to daydream about Kenny Scott's muscles and killer smile, but wanting more would lead to post-holiday regret. Then Kenny volunteers to run a toy drive with Bailey, and she learns that he's not just hot…he's also generous, funny, nice. The whole package—tantalizingly out of reach.
The ache of past loss reminds Kenny why he needs to avoid getting too close to anyone. Especially to a gorgeous redhead and her adorable little girl. Mess it up, and he'd lose them both. Yet Kenny can only resist Bailey for so long. And as festive spirit spreads throughout the town, he's all wrapped up in Bailey's sweet, sexy kisses and determined to make this the first of many Christmases together…
This was a very sweet read. Bailey and Kenny had some definite healing and learning to do, but in true Susan Mallery form she brought two characters together that brought out the best in each other. I was truly looking forward to Bailey and Kenny's book since Until We Touch. All in all it's a very heartwarming Christmas themed story that stays in line with the wonderful world of Fool's Gold that I cannot get enough of.
My only qualm is not necessarily the length, but what was fit into the length. I felt like there could have been a bit more character development and more depth to Bailey and Kenny's relationship. Having said that, what was there, was excellent. I just wanted more. But if you're looking for a sweet, short read this is definitely calling your name!
I hope to get glimpses of Bailey and Kenny in future books! I don't think I'll ever tire of visiting the town of Fool's Gold. Each character has such different background and an exciting tale to tell. Overall, a good addition to the series!
