Author: Lisa Renee Jones
Series: Inside Out #4.5
Release Date: July 7, 2014
My Rating: 5 Stars
I have lost the man I once was, letting guilt and heartache define who I am. Darkness has controlled me, and one woman has seen what no one else has seen in me, what I do not wish to exist. My hunger for her has driven me to the edge of sanity, but no more. She’s about to find out that the Master has returned.
***Mark and Crystal's story begins in the novella Master Undone
My Control is just further proof that Lisa Renee Jones can pack a wallop into a very short space. This book takes place after No In Between and follows Mark meeting up with Crystal again Of course, they come head to head and fight, but they also lust (or maybe love?) even more. Hands down, this is my favorite Mark POV books thus far in the INSIDE OUT series. Why? We FINALLY get Crystal's point of view! I have been dying to get into her head. And while, I've loved her from the get-go, if you haven't been swayed, I have a feeling you will. The sympathy she shows in regards to the elephant in the room is admirable, and the empathy she shows makes you wonder what her story is.
We also finally get that glimmer of controlling, domineering Mark in this installment. There are these two scenes that I read and I was actually giddy. Just imagine me bouncing in my seat saying "Yes! Bring the master back!" The Master's there and he's definitely coming back out to play in the full-length book of Mark's story- I Belong to You (Nov. 2014). As for Crystal, her whole demeanor is something I love. I think she's good for Mark. She's not looking for sunshine and roses. She's painfully aware of the reality of their situation. But it doesn't stop either one of them from having a stall moment. They can feel the something more, but give the circumstances in San Francisco and New York they know it's not the time.
If this is just a glimpse of what we can expect from the next full-length book, then sign me up. I've been a fan of Mark's from the very first book, If I Were You, and he's stolen even more of my heart in the books between. I want nothing more than to get his happily ever after. From the looks of where My Control leaves off, that is going to be a long journey for both he and Crystal. But I can't wait!
